Our Mission

Who are we?
Beautiful Shades of Me is a non-profit youth mentoring program for girls (ages 7-17). Our mission is to instill pride, confidence, and leadership skills in every girl we meet. Mentees will learn to love and believe in themselves, as well as each other. It is important for girls to see themselves as valuable and loved. At BSOM our caring mentors have the ability to interact with the mentees in a positive and motivating way.

One-on-One Mentoring
Our individual mentoring sessions can be tailored as needed. The activities will be age appropriate and consist of subject- based tutoring, discussions regarding the transition from elementary to middle school, and exploring financial aid options for college when that time comes. BSOM mentoring will also assist mentees with employment applications and workplace readiness skills. We practice time management, leadership development, stress management, and explore ways to handle difficult situations.

Group Mentoring
The group sessions will provide opportunities to build friendships, discuss important topics and share ideas. Mentees will plan fundraisers, participate in team projects, and learn to appreciate cultural differences. BSOM will also talk about peer-pressure, bullying and discuss ways to manage finances and the importance of establishing and maintaining credit.

Programs & Activities
Through programs and activities BSOM will tackle educational, social and financial interests. Such activities include: hiking, boating, swimming, attending leadership conferences, visiting colleges/ vocational and technical schools, discussing nutrition and healthy food options, outdoor games, group chat sessions, STEM activities, and arts and crafts.
Our Mission
BSOM is devoted to building powerful, trusting friendships that will enhance and brighten the future of our girls through positive reinforcement, life skills and mental nourishment.

Our Vision
To assist in developing positive, courageous, well-educated, self-respecting and kind young women who will use and share these values in everyday life.
